  • The History:

The Waltham Watch Company was founded in the United States in 1850 and continued to produce timepieces, clocks, compasses, and other instruments through 1957.   The company built a manufacturing plant in Waltham, Massachusetts that has been preserved as the American Waltham Watch Company Historic District.  Leaving the consumer watch market in 1957, the company moved to Chicago and built a new production facility in Neuchatel, Switzerland, in 1962.  By 1968, the company changed hands and was sold to the Invicta Watch Company of Switzerland.

  • The Watch:

The Waltham Field & Marine Red 12 features a 41mm stainless steel case with a double-domed sapphire crystal and the patented bayonet crown closure with a brass locking lever.  The enamel white dial features large Arabic numerals, with a red “12”, lumed hour and minute hands, and a date window at the 6 o’clock position.  Powered by a Sellita SW200-1 movement, the Field & Marine features a 38-hour power reserve and a 300-meter water resistance rating.

  • The Details:

This Waltham Field & Marine “Red 12” is number 39 of 50 pieces produced.  Included with this timepiece is the original Watch Angels black leather strap with Waltham “W” stitching at the lugs and a stainless steel Waltham pin buckle.
