The Panerai Luminor 8-Days GMT Historic Collection PAM 233 was released in 2006 and was the first timepiece to debut Panerai’s in-house manual wind movement, the Calibre P.2002. The Luminor case features the trademark Panerai crown guard, a black sandwich dial, and a highly domed sapphire crystal, giving this modern timepiece a vintage aesthetic.

The History: Beginning in 1860, Guido Panerai & Figlio in Florence, Italy, began producing high-precision instruments built for the Royal Italian Navy. In 1938, as Officine Panerai, they began producing wristwatches for the Italian Navy Commandos, with the Radiomir and later the Luminor. It wasn’t until 1993 that they began to produce versions of the Radiomir and the Luminor for international sale to the public.

The Watch: The Panerai Luminor 8-Days GMT PAM 233 features a 44mm stainless steel case with a highly domed sapphire crystal and an exhibition case back. The black sandwich-style dial features numerals at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions, a date window at the 3 o’clock position, a power reserve indicator above the 6 o’clock position, and a GMT 24-hour indicator at the 9 o’clock position. Powered by the in-house manual wind Calibre P.2002 movement, the PAM 233 has an 8-Day power reserve and a water resistance rating of 100 meters.

The Details: This Panerai Luminor 8-Days GMT PAM 233 includes both outer boxes and inner wood box. Some wear is present on the case and case back, which is visible in the photographs. This timepiece includes the black alligator leather strap with stainless steel buckle, a black Panerai rubber strap, the signed certificates booklet, the instruction manual, matching serial number stickers, matching serial number hangtag, a plastic crystal protector, and a strap changing tool.
