  • The History:

Seiko began its rich history in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop repairing and selling watches in central Tokyo.  Eleven years later, he opened a factory called the Seikosha Factory and began building wall clocks and pocket watches.  After an earthquake and fire destroyed the original factory, Hattori reopened with a new vision, which began what we know as Seiko today.  A true pioneer in watchmaking, Seiko developed the first Japanese-made divers watch.

  • The Watch:

The 4006-6030 features a 40mm brushed stainless steel case with an acrylic crystal.  The crown serves four functions: time setting, alarm winding,  alarm setting, and date setting, with a small button at the 2
o’clock position, which puts the watch into alarm-setting mode.  The silver dial features a sunburst pattern, an outer rotating alarm setting ring, applied steel indices, baton-shaped hour and minute hands, and a red day and date window at 3 o’clock. The 17-jewel Caliber 6030 movement powers the 4006-6030.

  • The Details:

This Seiko Bell-Matic Ref 4006-6030 was produced in 1970 and includes a stainless steel Seiko “coffin”-style bracelet.
