In celebration of the accomplishments of one of the greatest Japanese explorers in modern history, Naomi Uemura, the Prospex 1970 Heritage Divers Watch Ref SLA051 was released in honor of his legacy.  Based on the design of the 6105 Seiko Dive watch he wore on many of his expeditions, the SLA051 features an updated modern Caliber 8L35 movement, which is produced in the Shizukuishi Watch Studio, where all Grand Seiko movements are handmade.

More Info
  • The History:

Seiko began its rich history in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop repairing and selling watches in central Tokyo.  Eleven years later, he opened a factory called the Seikosha Factory and began building wall
clocks and pocket watches.  After an earthquake and fire destroyed the original factory, Hattori reopened with a new vision, which began what we know as Seiko today.  A true pioneer in watchmaking, Seiko developed the first Japanese-made divers watch.

  • The Watch:

The Seiko Prospex Heritage 1970 SLA051 features a 44mm stainless steel case, with the crown guard at the 4 o’clock position, a flat sapphire crystal, and a unidirectional rotating bezel.  The dial is charcoal gray with a textured finish, applied lumed indices, lumed baton-style hands, and a date window between the 4 and 5 o’clock positions.  Powered by the Caliber 8L35 movement, the SLA051 has a 50-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 200 meters.

  • The Details:

This Seiko Prospex 1970 Heritage Divers SLA051 includes the original box, the instruction manual, the guarantee card, the original Japanese hang tags, and the original stainless steel bracelet with stickers still
present.
