Description

To receive a gold Rolex from an employer, as a token of appreciation, spoke volumes about your dedication and performance to a company. When the Buick Corporation gifted their top franchise owners and managers with Rolex 18K Gold Oyster Perpetual Date timepieces, engraved with their iconic 3-flag logo on the case back, it was with mutual admiration for both their employees and the high standards that Rolex is known for.

The History:

Rolex brands need no introduction. Founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law, Alfred Davis, these visionary men set out to do what had not been successfully and reliably done before. Build a timepiece to be worn on the wrist, that was both highly reliable, functional, and durable, as well as stylish. Wilsdorf’s dream was to create a watch that could accompany its owner through all facets of life and withstand any environment. His innovative approach and high standards for quality re-shaped the watch industry as a whole. It has made the Rolex name synonymous with quality, innovation, and elegance.

The Watch:

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Ref 15038 has a 34 mm, 18K gold case, Plexiglas crystal, and is powered by an automatic Caliber 3035 movement. The dial is a rich champagne color, while the gold hour markers and hands are filled with tritium lume. The fluted bezel and cyclops date window give this vintage piece a polished look.

The Details:

This Oyster Perpetual Date Ref 15038 is in good condition. There are visible wear marks on the case and bracelet, consistent with the age of this piece, which are visible in the photos. The bracelet is the correct model, No. 7205 with No. 57 end-links and has had a repair performed on it. Also notable is that the serial number is engraved on the inside case back, as well as on the case between the lugs, where all Rolex timepiece serial numbers are located. This was done due to the casebook being removed for the engraving of the Buick logo, to ensure that they were put back on the correct timepiece.
