The Rolex Explorer was created as a true utility watch. One that could withstand and endure the most brutal of environments and tasks, while still maintaining its durability, as well as it’s elegant styling. Designed in honor of the exploits of those earliest of explorers who dared to climb Mt. Everest, and worn by Sir Edmund Hillary himself, the Rolex Explorer is an icon in the watch world.
The Rolex brand needs no introduction. Founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and his brother in law, Alfred Davis, these visionary men set out to do what had not been successfully and reliably done before. Build a timepiece to be worn on the wrist, that was both highly reliable, functional, and durable, as well as stylish. Wilsdorf’s dream was to create a watch that could accompany its owner through all facets of life and withstand any environment. His innovative approach and high standards for quality re-shaped the watch industry as a whole. It has made the Rolex name synonymous with quality, innovation, and elegance.
The Rolex Explorer I is stylish, with its 36mm case, glossy black dial, and brushed stainless bezel. The markers, indexes, Mercedes style hands, as well as the Arabic numerals at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions are all White 18K Gold. The hands and markers are filled with Super Luminova. The Reference 114270 bracelet has solid end links, and the watch features the in house Caliber 3130 movement.
This Rolex Explorer I is in very good condition, with only slight wear marks on the lugs and case, as shown in the photographs. It comes with the factory box, and service manual.
