Description

The Rolex Datejust stands as one of the most recognizable timepieces ever produced. With its classic, yet modern aesthetic, the difference between a vintage and a modern Datejust lies within the fine details, such as on this piece, the Two-Tone Reference 16013. With a gold, fluted bezel and its stainless steel case, this Reference 16013 has tritium lume plots and a Plexiglas crystal, giving it a warm vintage aesthetic.

The History:

Rolex brands need no introduction. Founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law, Alfred Davis, these visionary men set out to do what had not been successfully and reliably done before. Build a timepiece to be worn on the wrist, that was both highly reliable, functional, and durable, as well as stylish. Wilsdorf’s dream was to create a watch that could accompany its owner through all facets of life and withstand any environment. His innovative approach and high standards for quality re-shaped the watch industry as a whole. It has made the Rolex name synonymous with quality, innovation, and elegance.

The Watch:

The Rolex Datejust Two-Tone Ref 16013 has a 36mm stainless steel case, with a gold fluted bezel, gold crown, and a gold and stainless-steel two-tone Jubilee bracelet. This timepiece features a Plexiglas crystal and has tritium lume plots, baton hour markers, and a cyclops window over the 3 o’clock position for the date function. The Ref 16013 features the Calibre 3035 automatic movement.

The Details:

This Rolex Datejust Reference 16013 is in very good condition. The case, lugs, and bracelet show some wear, consistent with the age of this timepiece, as visible in the photographs. The case back still has the sticker present. This timepiece dates to the production year of 1987, and the 62523 bracelet dates to the production year of 1986. Included with this 16013 are the original outer and inner boxes, warranty certificate, manual, serial number hangtag, and polishing cloth.
