The Rolex Datejust stands as one of the most recognizable timepieces ever produced. With its classic, yet modern aesthetic, the difference between a vintage and a modern Datejust lies within the fine details, such as on this piece, the Reference 16030. This Reference 16030 features an engine-turned, stainless steel bezel, that is no longer in production by Rolex. The 16030 also introduced the Calibre 3035 automatic movement, the first to have a quick-set feature.

The History:
Rolex brands need no introduction. Founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law, Alfred Davis, these visionary men set out to do what had not been successfully and reliably done before. Build a timepiece to be worn on the wrist, that was both highly reliable, functional, and durable, as well as stylish. Wilsdorf’s dream was to create a watch that could accompany its owner through all facets of life and withstand any environment. His innovative approach and high standards for quality re-shaped the watch industry as a whole. It has made the Rolex name synonymous with quality, innovation, and elegance.
The Watch:
The Rolex Datejust Ref 16030 has a 36mm stainless steel case with an engine-turned bezel and an acrylic crystal. The engine-turned bezel is made of steel and has a distinct pattern of polished peaks sitting in between fine lines etched in the steel. Powered by a Calibre 3035 movement, the 16030 features a date window at the 3 o’clock position and has tritium lume plots at the hour markers as well as on the hour and minute hands.
The Details:
This Rolex Datejust Ref 16030 is in good condition. The case is unpolished and shows some wear, which is consistent with the age of this timepiece. There is a scratch in the crystal at the top, between the 12 o’clock and 3 o’clock positions. The tritium lume has developed a cream-colored patina. This 16030 comes with double boxes, COSC hangtag, owner's manual, original purchase receipt, and the original Rolex Jubilee stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp. This timepiece dates to a 1982 production year.
