Description

A vintage military chronograph pilot watch from Pierce watch company, this timepiece is a stunning example of design for its era. With its clear layout, large Arabic numerals, and sub-dials at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions, the Pierce is an innovative and interesting timepiece from the 1940s.

The History:

Pierce Watch Company was created in 1883 by the Levy brothers, in Biel/Bienne Switzerland. By the 1920s, they manufactured and designed every part of their timepieces in their factory, including stamping, milling, assembly, and testing. They created over 30 different caliber movements, including multiple chronograph movements, and were one of the first watchmakers to use a vertical friction clutch in their chronograph movement.

The Watch:

This Pierce Chronograph dates to the 1940s. The white dial has a slight patina and shows off the multiple colors of the tachymeter and telemeter markings as well as the red second hand, and the lumed Arabic numerals beautifully. The Pierce is set in a stainless steel case and is powered by their in house Caliber 134 movement.

The Details:

This Pierce Pilot Chronograph is in good condition. There are wear markings and scratches on the case and case back and lugs, that are visible in the photographs.
